Out of the Wood Work.

I've emerged! Oh geeze. I feel like I've been in a sort of hole. Life around our house has been making some annual and some surprise adjustments, I shall not elaborate on those but I can say the AH-HA! moment has happen for myself in the way of fiber ability. Crocheting has been a demon sitting on my shoulder taunting me for the past couple of years. Intimidating my understanding beyond what my brain felt like it could handle. I read knitting - I GET knitting. But..... when crocheting my stitches were too tight...... and, just got tighter with each bit of frustration until I would frog it all and grab my trusty bamboos feeling their soft worn points sliding in and out of the wool until a good portion is complete. Only resorting to my forsaken hook as more of a safety net I cast out when retrieving a dropped stitch.

Here it is. My first big "crocheting" project. Bonus....I have until December to finish. THIS will be a stress free project.

So today is one of the most relaxing day of our first week of summer. The rain is soothing and it's been a sea of pancakes, eggs, and biscuits and gravy with some legos, lincoln logs, and a bit of yarn zip-line from Holden's room down the hallway.

We always have to keep a close eye on the little dog as plastic seems to be a staple part of her day. She is improving the older she gets. Mogwai is now just over a year old. Here she is in her summer haircut.

I hope everyone is enjoying there day.  I'll have some Free patterns up this coming week.

Fleur-ette Frenzy!

Fleur-ettes! They're the knit flower barrette. Each barrette is hand knit. Laundered and then carefully stitched to a french barrette. I have been playing around with many style and colors of fiber. Currently all the Fleur-ettes are acrylic. Though in the coming weeks I will be diving into my wool, silk and a variety of blends.

To the left you'll find just a small handful of my Fleur-ettes.

For Sale information please email the Painted Lady at paintedladycollective@yahoo.com or PaintedLadyCollective to be directed to my Facebook business page.

Medium Sized Fleur-ette made with a fabulous, super soft variegated acrylic worsted weight yarn.

Small Sized Fleur-ette made from a fun, zesty acrylic sport weight baby yarn.

The Prices will vary depending on fiber used.  Current Fleur-ettes shown range between $5.00 and $7.00...however the blue and green Fleur-ette has a special story and purpose.

This Rose Fleur-ette is Medium in size made from a calm, cool variegated acrylic yarn.

About a week ago I met a little girl I won't ever forget. Her name is Lauren and this her story.

At 3 years old Lauren was diagnosed with a terrible, progressive disease called NeuroFibromatosis(NF) She is now 4 years old and through an MRI they've discovered a brain tumor. To read more about Lauren and NF check out my other blog (if you haven't already) From the Wife's Cup

How does little Lauren have to do with Fleur-ettes? ...other than the fact that a Fleur-ette would look great in her beautiful hair.

The Sage and Blue variegated rose Fleur-ette is crafted in colors to support awareness of NF and are not for sale. Instead a donation minimum of $10.00 is being asked.

Let's all support Lauren! Donate for her and have fantastic Fleur-ettes for your children, your friend or even yourself!!

I also do custom fabrication.
